Description
The site, which includes the castle, the mill and ancillary buildings, is on the banks of the Isle. The castle, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, is made up of a main rectangular building and a round tower located at the northeast corner; It has bow-windows which are a curious and rare characteristic for its time. Rebuilt at the end of the 17th century with the stone stones of the castle, the mill, located on an island, is connected to a long stone dike of around fifty meters, which dates from the Middle Ages. This compact construction is covered with a large attic roof and is adorned with small turrets in the corners, serving as pigeonniers. The mill includes an interesting technical system, of which vestiges remain despite the frequent overflows of the Isle, in particular the large flood of 1910. At the end of the 19th century, it was equipped with five wheels for five pairs of grinding wheels and had a wheel for oil.
