Description
11th century building, modified in the 12th century. The church was located next to the old feudal castle, from which it overlooked the inner courtyard, and its apse was integrated into a structure which extended to the east (according to the cadastre of 1820); The key to the west portal carries a coat of arms, partially damaged during the Revolution, but recognized as that of the Mas family, which held the lands and the lordship of Payzac. In the 19th century, the Church required significant repairs. His nave was not vaulted and the lambris of the ceiling were already in very poor condition in 1811; A part collapsed in February 1817. The carriage frame had to be repaired in 1841 and La Flèche, twisted, was covered with slate shingles. In 1871, the architect Henri Nalet de Périgueux proposed to rebuild the nave, but the work was undertaken until 1879 by two entrepreneurs of Périgueux, E. Dellaval and A. Bertoletti. The magnitude of the work justified a new consecration on September 5, 1880. Later, in 1892, a presbytery was built adjoining the church.
