Description
Work designed by architects Louis Simon and André Morisseau, as well as by engineer René Sarger. Sarger's technical analysis only modifies the interior curve of shell -shaped design offered by architects. The solution chosen to cover a circular space of 50 meters in diameter without supports is a wavy spherical vault made of sinusoidal paraboloids. The loads are distributed in the low areas that affect the soil at thirteen points. Each vault is seen as an arc with three joints. Therefore, each vault works like a beam with a sinusoidal section in one direction and parabolic in the other. This approach makes it possible to create a thin structure, the average thickness of which does not exceed 10 cm.
